Hong Kong Open TV and Hong Kong International Business Channel (HKIBC) are pleased to announce the significant increase in the signal coverage of the Free-to-Air TV spectrum broadcasting in September 2022. The population coverage of the two existing free TV channels, Channel 77 Hong Kong Open TV and Channel 76 Hong Kong International Business Channel, will reach approximately 99% of the Hong Kong population through the Free-to-Air TV spectrum, in order to serve a larger local television audience and provide programme choices to more households.

Regarding to the formal approval of the Communications Authority for granting Fantastic Television Limited to use the Free-to-Air TV spectrum broadcasting as an additional means of transmission on 24th February 2022, Hong Kong Open TV and HKIBC haveactively deployed the launch of Free-to-Air TV spectrum broadcasting signal phase by phase, and will reach approximately 99% of the Hong Kong population in this month, after the first launch in April. Households and tenants are encouraged to rescan their TV sets to enjoy our TV programmes.

Hong Kong Open TV and HKIBC will use both Free-to-Air TV spectrum and fixed network for transmission. If audience cannot receive the mentioned signals, they are suggested to inform their building management office of making the arrangements of the relevant CABD system and IBCCDS reconfiguration, as well as to rescan the TV sets or DTT receivers for receiving the Free-to-Air TV spectrum signal. For the TV channels being transmitted over spectrum, there should be an additional “*” marked beside the channel name, e.g. *Hong Kong Open TV and *Hong Kong International Business Channel, on the EPG page. Audience can distinguish between the two signals instantly with this mark.
